CAPE MAY, Sept. 26, 2026 — The Lobster House at Schellenger's Landing took on water Saturday morning as the nor'easter pushed Cape May's tide to 8.61 feet at 9:18 a.m.
That reading, from the NOAA tide gauge in Cape May, counts as moderate flooding, just under the 8.7-foot line for major flooding. It came within about 3 inches of Superstorm Sandy's peak of 8.89 feet on Oct. 29, 2012, but did not pass it.
The gauge sits at the ferry terminal on the bay, not in the harbor at Schellenger's Landing, so the water at the Lobster House itself could have run a little higher or lower.
Flooding at the Lobster House was first reported by Seven Lakes News and ABC7. Tide data: NOAA station 8536110 (Cape May).
