MIDDLE TOWNSHIP, Oct. 21, 2026 — The Garden State Parkway will close in Cape May County on Thursday for emergency utility work, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority says.
The closure runs from 9 a.m. until about 1 p.m. Drivers will be detoured onto Route 9 between Interchange 4 at Route 47 in Rio Grande and Interchange 9 at Shell Bay Avenue in Cape May Court House.
The authority announced the closure in a post on the Parkway's official X account at 9:09 p.m. Wednesday, with few other details. It did not say which direction of the Parkway will close or what utility work is planned.
The detour follows Route 9 through Rio Grande, Whitesboro and Burleigh.
